New for SOURCE Boston 2012!
The first and foremost is the change in pricing system. When we first created SOURCE, we set out to create an event that would provide high-quality talks at a reasonable price. Over the years, we have sought venues that would allow us to hold our events at a reasonable cost. The Seaport was a great venue, but we really wanted to find a location that would allow us to offer tickets at a reduced rate. We were very excited to find the Courtyard Marriott in Boston’s theater district. This historical building offers numerous restaurants, bars, clubs, and just about anything else you could want within walking distance. We were also able to negotiate a reasonable hotel rate ($169 a night) and a venue contract that will allow us to offer tickets at a lower rate.
The SOURCE Advisors got together for their annual planning session this weekend and dedicated several hours of this to brainstorming for how to offer tickets that would be affordable to a greater audience.
So, here is what we came up with:
We will offer 100 tickets at the reduced rate of $495. Once these 100 tickets are purchased, the rate will go to $695. The important thing to note is that these ticket only include coffee & snacks and not meals. This is essentially the same as the Economy Passes that we offered in previous years.
“OMG! What will we do for lunch?” If you’ve ever been to the theater district in Boston, you will know that there is no shortage of fantastic restaurants in the area. Famous Boston pubs, restaurants, delis, pizza shops and more are all within one block of the hotel. As you probably know, hotels are notorious for charging exorbitant fees for food. We reviewed our options and decided that rather than lock ourselves into a contract that includes serving $5 sodas and $40 sandwiches, we would be better off not locking into a high food and beverage agreement. This allows us to pass those savings on to our attendees by reducing the cost of admission.
Change in the schedule. SOURCE Boston is a two and a half day event that would usually include a full schedule for Days 1 & 2 and a half day for Day 3. In order to reduce the amount of travel overlap with marathoners and sports fans, we will schedule a half day, starting at noon on Day 1 and full days for Days 2 & 3. If you are coming in from out of town, we strongly recommend that you arrive Tuesday morning.
We will be releasing the full schedule by February 15th. The advisors had a tough time picking between the amazing business and technical talks but have landed on a schedule you are sure to enjoy.
New Trainings! This year, SOURCE Boston will offer two-day trainings. Please note that the trainings will be held at the Cambridge Marriott. Although this will mean a hotel switch for some attendees, you will get the best of both sides of the river!
