This is a pretty exciting week for me. No, not because the San Jose Sharks moved up a spot in the NHL western conference, but because I’ll be going to SOURCE Boston. (Note: I am, of course, cautiously optimistic about the Sharks.)
Not only am I going to attend SOURCE Boston and take in all of its yummy security goodness but I’ll also be live blogging the event and running the live Twitter feed. So if you’re going and you want to get my attention, it might take a second before I look up from my laptop or BlackBerry as I’m going to try to keep the content as up-to-the-moment as possible. (See, you should really follow @SOURCEBoston on Twitter if not to get updates on the great content, but to see if I can really pull this off. Bets anyone?)
This is my first security con since really digging my heels into this industry. I’m happy to admit that I’m slightly green (in security experience, not in pigment) and I work in marketing. I mean, you all knew that, right? I don’t try to hide it. Which makes all of the cool speakers and sessions at the conference even more important to me. My brain is a sponge for this stuff right now.
I’m not really the target audience, though. I don’t want anyone to view SOURCE Boston as a “conference for Jen” because I’m definitely in the minority of the attendees. While the event was just born this year its designed for security professionals who get info and network with other seasoned industry veterans. In addition to the keynotes by Richard Clarke, Dan Geer and Steven Levy, and of course the highly anticipated reunion of the L0pht Heavy Industry folks, there’s all kinds of cool content that can be found over on the SOURCE Boston schedule.
If you’re speaking, suggest to me why I should live blog or live tweet your presentation. If you’re attending, tell me what you’re most excited about. If you’re not attending and will be reading for a far, make some suggestions, too.
I’m pumped. I’ll be there with my extended life laptop battery and a frazzled look, I am sure. Be certain to say hello if you’re there. Maybe I’ll live tweet an interview with you from the hall.
